pDRIVE-β-Kin

β-Kin promoter (Ubiquitous) in pDRIVE expression plasmid

ABOUT

β-Kin promoter (Ubiquitous) in pDRIVE expression plasmid

Kinesins are tubulin molecular motors whose function is to transport organelles within cells. Kinesins have been characterized as tetrameric proteins, with two heavy (α) chains and two light (β) chains.

The promoter region of the β-kinesin gene can drive the constitutive expression of a transgene in a variety of cells. The 5’UTR is able to form a stable double hairpin structure that increases the strength of the promoter by enhancing mRNA translatability.

The β-kinesin promoter encompassing the 5’UTR is 75-fold to 100-fold higher than the HSV-tk or NSE promoters [1].
