Antimicrobial Agents
InvivoGen offers top-quality reagents to avoid cell culture contamination.
Microbial contamination of cell culture is a major concern for research laboratories as well as biotechnological industries. Working with contaminated cells can lead to disastrous results, unreliable experiments, lost time, and wasted resources. Microbial contaminants, whether mycoplasma, bacteria, or fungi, can be avoided and eliminated using the right antibiotic formulation.
To help you keep your research safe, we provide:
– Prevention reagents
– Elimination reagents
Prevention of cell culture contamination
InvivoGen offers a panel of protective solutions:
-
Normocin®: antibiotic formulation for complete protection against mycoplasma, bacteria, and fungi; designed for routine addition to cultured cell lines
-
Primocin®: antibiotic formulation for complete protection against mycoplasma, bacteria, and fungi; designed for routine addition to primary cells
-
Fungin™: antimycotic solution for protection against different forms of fungi (yeasts, hyphae, and molds); designed for routine addition to cell cultures. Note: Fungin™ can be used at high concentrations for contamination removal (see section below).
- Plasmocin® prophylactic: antibiotic formulation for protection against broad-spectrum mycoplasma and related wall-less bacteria; designed for routine addition to cultured cell lines and primary cells
Elimination of cell culture contaminants
Typically, once invasive microbes are detected in cell cultures it is recommended to discard the cells and the media. However, some cell cultures are so precious that they cannot be lost (i.e. stable clone selection, cell lines derived from explanted tissues, primary cells) and are not available elsewhere (i.e. not yet frozen). In such situations, InvivoGen provides antibiotics to eradicate the contamination surely and rapidly without damaging your cells.
-
Normocure™: multidrug-resistant bacteria removal agent
-
Fungin™: antimycotic solution for removal of different forms of fungi (yeasts, hyphae, and molds). Note: Fungin™ can be used at low concentrations to prevent contamination (see section above).
-
Plasmocure™: a second-line anti-mycoplasma reagent, recommended for the elimination of mycoplasma that appear to be resistant to Plasmocin®.
- Plasmocin®: antibiotic formulation for eliminating broad-spectrum mycoplasma and related wall-less bacteria; designed for routine addition to cultured cell lines and primary cells
