ABOUT
L-plastin (LP) promoter in pDRIVE expression plasmid
L-plastin (LP) belongs to a family of genes that encode actin-binding proteins. LP is constitutively expressed at high levels in malignant epithelial cells but is not expressed in normal tissues, except at low levels in mature hematopoietic cells.
A 315-bp fragment of the 5’ region of the L-plastin gene, spanning the TATAAA box and a potential Sp1-binding site, is sufficient to exhibit strong promoter activity [1].
The L-plastin promoter driving the expression of a suicide gene was used to successfully inhibit the growth of ovarian tumor cells in vitro and in vivo [2].
