E. coli Selective Antibiotics

Blasticidin S

Blasticidin S is a peptidyl nucleoside antibiotic active on both prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
Resistance to blasticidin is conferred by the blasticidin resistance gene from Bacillus cereus (bsr).
Selection of common E. coli strains is achieved at 50-100 μg/ml of blasticidin in Low Salt LB medium adjusted to pH 8.
