Angiostatic genes


Angiostatic or antiangiogenic genes encode proteins that inhibit the growth of new blood vessels. These genes present a great potential in the treatment of pathologic angiogenesis, a process involved in numerous diseases including cancer and diabetic retinopathy.

Angiostatic genes are provided in the pBLAST plasmid that can be amplified in E. coli and stably transfected in mammalian cells using blasticidin.
